PEMBROKE and HYANNIS, MA – Marie Peeler, CEO of Peeler Associates, an executive coaching and leadership development firm working with individuals and organizations to increase their business effectiveness, has been asked to teach a Manager Training Series at Cape Cod Community College. The course is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 6 to May 29, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and is offered through the Workforce Education Resource Center (WERC) at Cape Cod Community College. Peeler will lead the first three weeks of classes.
WERC is the premier training resource provider for local businesses and organizations of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and southeastern Massachusetts. The Manager Training Series is geared toward helping new managers (who may lack the basic managerial skills need to succeed) build on their current skills and become more effective in their day-to-day dealings with people and their new responsibilities. Individuals can sign up for the whole series (at a discount) or take the individual classes that meet their specific needs. Topics include:
- May 6 & 8 – Communication Skills & Conflict Management for the New Manager
- May 13 & 15 – Situational Leadership, Delegation & Motivation for the New Manager
- May 20 & 22 – Managing Difficult Employees, Performance Issues, and Reviews
- May 27 & 29 – Legal Liabilities of Supervisors/Managers.
“Many executives incorrectly assume that an employee that has earned a management promotion innately has the skills necessary to effectively lead a team,” stated Peeler. “This is often not the case. By taking these courses, individuals will learn what to expect from the managerial challenges that will face them sooner or later, as well as effective strategies for dealing with these challenges.
“The content of these courses will remain relevant and helpful as they advance throughout their career,” Peeler added.
