Peeler Associates Principal Marie Peeler Speaks at FEI Boston Chapter

PEMBROKE and BOSTON, MA, ISSUED APRIL 29, 2015 … Marie Peeler, executive coach and principal of Peeler Associates, an executive coaching and leadership development firm working with individuals and organizations to increase their leadership effectiveness, spoke to a gathering of the Financial Executives International Boston Chapter on April 21.  She addressed the topic, “Leading with Personal Mastery.”

In her presentation, Peeler discussed the dual role of a chief financial officer – as the head of finance and as part of a larger team that leads the success of the overall organization – and the need to balance these roles.  She expanded on creative competencies that help leaders achieve greatness, reactive tendencies that hold leaders back and how assumptions that leaders make drive creative leadership or hold leaders in reactive mode.  She also challenged attendees to determine one significant thing that they could begin to do that day to start breaking habits of thought that do not serve the quest for leadership greatness.

The Boston chapter of Financial Executives International, one of the largest chapters of the premier professional association for senior and mid-level corporate and financial managers, is comprised of almost 700 members representing a broad spectrum of companies that operate in numerous industries.

Susan L. Gorman, president of FEI Boston, said, “Marie presented attendees with a great discussion of leadership and challenge to improve our performance.  Senior executives, especially those in financial roles, face the challenge of being responsible, accountable and managing risk while at the same time having to be part of a larger team that needs to grow, innovate, and take risks.”

Gorman continued, “Leadership development is not top of mind for many senior financial executives; however, for financial executives ranked as better leaders, data has shown that these executives get much better results in customer satisfaction, employee turnover and net profit.”

“To thrive, financial executives must demonstrate that they are not only a competent financial and risk manager but a great leader as well,” said Peeler.  “I was thrilled to have the opportunity to address this great group once more and help them become more effective in their financial roles.”
